AAUW Louisiana On Campus

Louisiana has set up several Facebook groups for our Louisiana colleges in hopes that enough local AAUW interest can be generated that eventually an active campus affiliate group might be formed.

If you college, is one of the AAUW university partners, then students may join AAUW as a student affiliate for FREE - a savings of $17 yearly. Check to see if your school is an AAUW College / University Partner; or join as a student affiliate via the AAUW web site.

Southeastern AAUW Student Affiliate

Tasha Whitton with Southeastern Student Affiliates

Since Southeastern is one of the AAUW university partners, Southeastern students may join AAUW as a student affiliate for FREE - a savings of $17 yearly.

Louisiana's first AAUW Student Affiliate (SA) group was organized on the campus of Southeastern University in Hammond as a satelite of the Covington-Mandeville Branch. Campus facilitator is Dr. Natasha Whitton.

This group's focus is on student empowerment, leadership and encouragement. It strives to maintain Southeastern's status as an AAUW university partner and to send at least one Southeastern student each year to the very pretigious National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL) in Washington.

While stressing that student's studies must come first, this group still manages to participate in philanthropy and regular meetings. Some of the topics discussed during the 2009-10 meeting year were: NCCWSL, Campaign College, The Wage Project, $tart $mart, Legislative Days, a proposed faculty-staff tea, the SGA leadership retreat, visibility, recruitment, ERA and Equal Pay.
